Scrutinizor
Privacy information · 25 October 2026

A record of your work.
Under your control.

This page describes Scrutinizor for iPhone, its support process and this website.

Photos and inspection records

Scrutinizor processes photos, barcodes and printed text on your device. Saved material can include photographs, recognised values, references and serial numbers, labels, notes and inspection records. App preferences are stored locally.

The app has no app account, advertising service, third-party analytics service or developer-operated inspection upload service. Your inspection library is not automatically sent to the developer.

Technician profiles

Optional local profiles associate new findings with a display name, unique profile ID and app-installation ID. These details travel with exported records and restored inspection ZIPs. None records no contributor. Profiles are not verified identities.

Optional shared-device protection stores salted PIN verifiers and settings in the iPhone’s device-only Keychain. PINs are not included in inspection exports. Protection controls attribution selection; it does not restrict access to saved inspection material. Profiles and PINs are not imported when someone restores an inspection ZIP.

Camera and Photos permissions

Camera access lets you photograph and scan. Photo-library permissions support the reading, saving and deletion actions you choose. The app can save captured photos to your photo library when permission and the relevant settings allow it.

Photos syncing and device backups follow your Apple and device settings. They may place copies in iCloud or other services; local processing does not mean every copy remains only on the phone.

Sharing and the clipboard

When you share, the app or destination you choose receives the selected output. Reports can include references, serials, recognised values, labels, notes and pictures. Images and archives may include surrounding details and photo metadata. Review files before sharing. Previously shared copies remain under the recipient’s control.

Copying a value places it on the system clipboard. An optional automatic-copy setting can do this after scanning. Clipboard contents may be available to other apps or through Apple’s cross-device clipboard features, depending on your settings.

Storage and deletion

You can remove saved material using the app’s storage and inspection controls. Removing app records does not recall exports or necessarily delete separate photo-library copies. Deleting the app can remove its local records. Keep an independently checked inspection ZIP when you need a restorable copy.

TestFlight

Apple handles beta distribution through TestFlight and can provide the developer with testing, crash and usage information. Feedback you send through TestFlight may include screenshots, device information and testing details. This is separate from automatically uploading your inspection library.

See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information. Check feedback for sensitive customer or workplace material before sending it.

Support and feedback

If you contact support, your email address, message and any attachments you send are received by the publisher through the support email service. Send only what is needed to explain the issue.

Feedback is used only to investigate problems and improve Scrutinizor. Unnecessary personal details are removed from retained issue notes. Contact scurramontis@icloud.com to request deletion of feedback you have supplied. Please identify the message or report so it can be located. Copies held by Apple through TestFlight follow Apple’s own privacy practices.
